  • Kimkhab


Kimkhab is the most widely acclaimed type of silk clothes of Banaras.  Kimkhab is also called ‘Zarbaft’ or ‘brocade’. It had a warp of katan.  Major parts of this cloth are woven with coloured silk threads, but in places gold and silver threads are also used. The beauty of these textiles lies in their intricate designs.

  • Paudi


Hand woven on pit-looms by the highly skilled hereditary weavers of banaras, these Paudi fabrics are the result of the combined efforts of the ‘Kalakar’, the ‘naqshaband’ and the ‘Karigar’ or ‘weaver’.
